To achieve climate goals, the must be accelerated. The challenge is to reduce CO2 emissions. They must be halved by 2030 and even by 95 percent by 2050.
This can be achieved by phasing in renewable energy more quickly and phasing out fossil fuels smoothly, while ensuring the energy supply remains safe, available, and affordable.
Energy conservation is also a key tool. This transition requires major technical and societal changes and innovation across all sectors of the economy, within government agencies, and among residents.
