For a growing high-tech engineering company in the Netherlands, we are looking for an Electronics & FPGA Engineer who enjoys working close to hardware, measurement systems, and complex technical integration.
The organization develops advanced equipment for precision measurement and inspection environments. You will join a small, highly technical team where electronics, software, mechanics, and physics come together. Because the team is still compact, your work will have a direct impact on the performance, reliability, and scalability of the system.
This is a role for someone who likes ownership: not only designing a solution on paper, but also building, testing, debugging, and improving it until it works reliably in practice.
As Electronics & FPGA Engineer, you will be responsible for the electronics and FPGA-related parts of a high-precision technical system. You will work on timing, triggering, signal handling, hardware integration, and the practical connection between different subsystems.
Developing and maintaining FPGA-based timing and trigger solutions
Designing electronics for system integration, such as interface boards, signal conditioning, level shifting, cabling, and connectors
Working on signal quality, grounding, shielding, routing, and noise reduction
Bringing up and testing hardware in a lab environment
Debugging electrical and timing-related issues using measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab tools
Translating technical requirements into working electronics solutions
Collaborating with engineers from different disciplines to integrate hardware into one reliable system
Documenting designs, test results, and technical choices clearly
You will be involved from early requirements through to tested hardware, which means the role combines design, hands-on engineering, and system-level problem solving.
We are looking for someone with a strong electronics background who is comfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical challenges.
Solid knowledge of digital and analog electronics
Experience with schematic design, PCB or breakout-board design, and hands-on hardware bring-up
Practical skills in soldering, cabling, probing, and debugging
Experience with timing-critical or trigger-based systems
Knowledge of signal integrity topics such as grounding, shielding, EMI, cable routing, and noise prevention
Comfortable use of lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and signal or delay generators
Basic Python skills for testing, automation, bring-up scripts, or data checks
A structured and ownership-driven way of working
A BSc or MSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field
Around 3–5 years of relevant experience in electronics, embedded systems, or FPGA development
Motion control or encoder interfaces
Low-jitter or sub-microsecond timing systems
Trigger interfaces for cameras, sensors, lasers, or industrial equipment
Development of scientific, industrial, or high-tech measurement equipment
A technically challenging role in a high-tech engineering environment
A lot of ownership and influence over the electronics domain
