TRS Staffing Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an Intermediate Material Handling Engineer role to work for one of Canada's top employers and a global leader in the Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management industry.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare engineering designs, equipment layouts, and technical calculations for bulk material transport and handling systems.
- Support project delivery by contributing to scope definition, engineering work plans, technical documentation, and design development activities.
- Evaluate and specify mechanical equipment while ensuring designs align with project objectives.
- Monitor material quantities, key engineering metrics, and project deliverables while providing updates on progress and anticipated changes.
- Participate in procurement activities including technical bid evaluations, equipment selection reviews, and supplier document assessments.
- Review engineering packages, vendor submissions, and third-party deliverables to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Support cost estimating, proposal preparation, change management, and identification of scope adjustments throughout the project lifecycle.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Experience with industrial material handling systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of conveyors, crushers, screens, and bulk loading/unloading equipment.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations and equipment selection activities.
- Familiarity with engineering standards and mechanical design practices.
- Experience reviewing vendor documentation and supporting procurement processes.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency with standard office and engineering software.
- Experience with conveyor design software and related standards is an asset.
- Field or site-based industrial experience is considered an asset.
