Mechanical Designer - Major Iron Ore Projects
Location: Perth, WA
Contract Duration: Short-term opportunity
Our client is proud to design and build projects and careers. We are committed to fostering a welcoming and collaborative work environment that encourages big-picture thinking, brings out the best in our personnel, and helps us develop innovative solutions that contribute to building a better world together. If this sounds like a culture you would like to work in, you are invited to apply for this role.
About the Role
As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering mechanical design solutions across major mining infrastructure projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to produce high-quality design documentation and ensure designs align with project, operational, and safety requirements.
Mandatory Requirements
-
10-15 years of Mechanical Design experience within the mining and resources sector.
-
A minimum of 2 continuous years working on a major Iron Ore project within the last 5 years.
-
Proven experience delivering design work for large-scale Iron Ore processing, materials handling, crushing, conveying, screening, stockyard, port, rail, or fixed plant infrastructure projects.
-
Strong understanding of project delivery within operating mine site environments.
-
Experience producing detailed mechanical design packages and associated documentation.
-
Proficiency using industry-standard design software and 3D modelling tools.
-
Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills within multidisciplinary project teams.
Highly Desirable
-
Pilbara Iron Ore projects.
-
Major project work with leading Iron Ore operators including Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG, Roy Hill, or Mineral Resources.
-
Brownfield expansion projects and sustaining capital programs.
-
Bulk materials handling systems.
-
Fixed plant processing facilities.
-
Construction support and site-based project experience.
What Will Set You Apart
We are specifically looking for candidates who can demonstrate recent, hands-on involvement in significant Iron Ore project delivery rather than broader mining design experience. Applicants should be able to clearly articulate:
-
The Iron Ore projects they have worked on.
-
Their role and design responsibilities.
-
Project duration and continuity of involvement.
-
The specific facilities or infrastructure they supported.
Apply
If you are a Mechanical Designer with extensive mining experience and a proven track record delivering major Iron Ore projects, particularly within the Pilbara, we would like to hear from you.
Please note: Candidates who cannot demonstrate at least 2 continuous years of major Iron Ore project experience within the last 5 years are unlikely to be considered for this opportunity.
