For a financial institution I’m searching for an interim Senior ESG Consultant & Team Lead with in-depth knowledge of ESG principles and practice, and experience in Banking & Financial Services and building teams.
ESG is a relatively new activity that, so far, has been on the side of other activities. Recently, it was decided to build a dedicated ESG Reporting team to fulfill all the current and upcoming requirements in this area. There is a person who will be appointed as Team Lead, but the amount of work is too much for one person because, in addition to the BAU, they also need to build a new team and structure the ESG activities. Moreover, the proposed lead is pregnant and will be on maternity leave for a few months and needs to be replaced in the meantime.
The goal is to build a ESG team and structure. The deliverables are clearly defined, covering multiple areas: CSRD compliance, regulatory reporting, information related to funding (green bonds), and information for financial communication, among others. While building these capabilities, there are already existing requirements that need to be fulfilled.

• Deliver and structure the required information for the Shareholders, Annual Report, internal stakeholders
• Built the team that will need to take care of these activities going forward
• Define and describe the processes that need to be executed
• Agree the governance with all stakeholders in this area
• Train new people and stakeholders in the ESG area

All tasks will be a joint effort with the proposed ESG Lead. Initially, the candidate will not be managing others. At a later stage, this role will expand to include managing 2 FTE’s.
The candidate is successful when there is a team in place by Q1 2025 and all the required items have been delivered, with sign-off by the auditors.
The newly formed ESG Reporting Team will be part of the Finance department. The team will eventually consist of approximately 3 FTE’s but is expected to grow even larger. The responsibility of the team will be ensuring comprehensive ESG reporting and compliance within the organization. The candidate will report to the Director Reporting and the proposed Team Lead and will collaborate closely with various teams and departments, including Accounting & Consolidation, DTO, Regulatory Reporting, Treasury, ICT, and the Chief Sustainability Officer.

• Education: Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
• Industry: Banking or Financial Services experience is required
• Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ESG principles and practices, and ideally also familiarity with financial & regulatory reporting, green bonds, and CSRD compliance
• Skills: Strong data analysis skills, excellent stakeholder management abilities, strong presentation skills, and effective people management and leadership capabilities
• Languages: English is mandatory and French is a plus

The client has a hybrid-way-of-working with 50% remote and 50% in the office.
