DENS develops and delivers advanced mobile energy and battery solutions for demanding sectors — from construction and ports to critical infrastructure and inland shipping. We are a fast-growing company of around 170 people, founded as a TU/e spin-off and based in Helmond, the Netherlands. We design, engineer and build in house, which means our numbers are about real machines, real projects and real margins.
Get out of your chair
We are not looking for a controller who spends the day inside a spreadsheet. We are looking for someone who walks onto the shop floor to ask why a project came in over budget, sits down with engineering to understand a bill of materials, and checks with sales what was actually promised in a quote. Your analysis only reflects reality once you understand the subject matter.
AI is a tool here
Repetitive work does not belong in a controller’s week in 2026. You get the room — and the encouragement — to use AI and automation for reporting, data cleaning and analysis, so your time goes into interpretation and conversation instead of copy-paste. Whatever you automate can become the standard.
Run the monthly close and management reporting — with the story behind the numbers, not just the numbers
Build and monitor budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections
Analyse project results and cost prices, and find out where the variance against the calculation comes from
Gather information from engineering, production, procurement and sales to test your analysis against reality
Build and automate reports and dashboards, using AI and smart tooling wherever it helps
Support the annual close, subsidy programmes and the auditor file
Propose improvements to processes and systems as we scale up

Bachelor’s or master’s in business economics, accountancy, finance & control or similar
2 to 5 years of experience in controlling, audit or finance — manufacturing or engineering is a plus
Pragmatic: you go for the answer that is correct and usable, not for the perfect model
Curious and not shy — you walk up to people until you understand how something works
You enjoy working with AI and automation, and already experiment with it on your own
Strong in Excel and ERP data, but you do not live there
Fluent in both Dutch and English — good spoken command of both languages is a requirement
