Costing Engineer

Are you technically minded, commercially aware and experienced in turning customer requirements into accurate cost calculations? HTM Bies is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Costing Engineer to strengthen our team in Marum.
As a Costing Engineer, you play a key role within the organisation. You are the link between customer requirements, engineering, production, purchasing and sales, ensuring that every quotation is both technically feasible and commercially sound. By combining technical insight with a strong understanding of costs, lead times and production processes, you help us create competitive proposals and build successful customer relationships.

From our location in Marum, we work on technically challenging projects for customers in industries including energy, oil and gas, environmental technology, food, dairy, and process industries.

This is what your working day looks like
As a Costing Engineer, you translate customer enquiries, technical drawings and specifications into reliable and competitive quotations. You assess whether a product can be manufactured efficiently and determine the expected costs based on materials, machining and production times, purchasing prices, lead times and the required margins.
You look beyond the numbers. By understanding the customer’s requirements and our production capabilities, you identify potential risks and opportunities at an early stage and consider alternative processes or solutions where these can improve feasibility, quality or cost efficiency. You work closely with colleagues in production, purchasing and sales to ensure that quotations are technically realistic and financially viable.
You are responsible for the quality and accuracy of your calculations and monitor the underlying cost assumptions. At the same time, you contribute to improving our calculation methods, processes and pricing approach. In this position, you combine technical expertise, analytical thinking and commercial awareness to help turn customer enquiries into successful projects.
What skills do you bring to the role of Costing Engineer?
A completed technical MBO qualification combined with relevant work experience, or a technical HBO degree as a recent graduate
Relevant experience in cost estimating, preferably within the manufacturing industry
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with ERP systems; experience with MKG 5 is an advantage
Strong communication skills and a proactive, decisive approach
The flexibility to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines

You will be offered a contract with HTM BIES straight away, with the prospect of a permanent position, a salary commensurate with your age and experience, travel allowance and a good pension scheme through PMT.
