Do you want to help better integration of people who applied for asylum specially mothers?
The Netherlands Red Cross is there for people in need. Both around the corner and far away. We help from our hearts and with our sleeves rolled up. We also make sure that people can help themselves and teach them how to help others. So that in times of need, no one is alone.
Worldwide, we work on the basis of our seven Fundamental Principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
Within the Mother Empowerment Program, we help mothers living in asylum shelters improve their physical and mental wellbeing and support their integration into Dutch society. We do this by providing digital literacy workshops. These workshops teach mothers how to use their mobile phones in daily life to access information and services online, find their way around, communicate using translation tools, learn the Dutch language and make use of the many opportunities available online.
We are currently recruiting Digital Literacy Trainers only for the regions South Holland Delta (Rotterdam, Dordrecht and surrounding areas) and West Netherlands (The Hague, Leiden and surrounding areas).

What are you going to do

Conduct digital literacy workshops for small groups of people who live in an asylum shelter- and reception locations or other partner organizations;
Thinking along about project developments;
Follow the current affairs regarding vulnerable migrants in the Netherlands and regionally;
Participate in training courses and team/intervision meetings for volunteers.

We are looking for someone who

Speaks English fluently and preferably an extra language, for example Tigrinya, Somali or Arabic;
Has an education or good experience in using mobile technology in daily life for example studied IT or computer science (those who are still studying are at least in the fourth year of study);
Has good communication and social skills;
Has experience in providing training/workshops and group work;
Has experience working with people in migration process or working social care;
Has empathy for people, but can also set professional boundaries;
Is flexible, independent and acts proactive;
People with a diverse cultural background are invited to apply!

Work experience within the largest humanitarian organization in the Netherlands and worldwide;
A team of committed colleagues;
A Red Cross work related training in working with people who seek asylum in the Netherlands;
Substantive support by the coordinator or project leader;
