Powerhouse Engineer, Boiler Operator - 3rd shift - Columbus Plant Job at Abbott, Columbus, OH
Abbott seeks a Powerhouse Engineer/Boiler Operator for third-shift operations at its Columbus manufacturing plant. The role combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction to develop expertise in energy center systems, with the goal of qualifying candidates for Ohio's 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license.
Operate and maintain energy center systems including boilers, steam, chilled water, and compressed air equipment
Monitor process deviations and execute preventative and demand maintenance tasks
Complete classroom training and on-the-job training to earn boiler operating hours toward Ohio exam
Maintain hand tools and equipment; document work orders and labor hours in Maximo CMMS system
Ensure compliance with LOTO procedures, GMP standards, FDA, USDA, and OSHA regulations

High school diploma or GED plus two-year technical degree or equivalent experience
Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer (SSE) license
Strong mathematics, written and verbal communication skills
Analytical troubleshooting ability and capacity to learn complex technical processes
Knowledge of FDA regulations, cGMP, or regulated industry experience preferred
Manufacturing plant environment experience preferred
