Operations Agent Airfreight

As an Operations Agent Airfreight, you will play an important role in managing international airfreight shipments from start to finish. You will be in regular contact with customers, carriers, colleagues and international partners, responding quickly whenever circumstances change and taking ownership of the decisions within your area of responsibility. No two days are the same. One moment, you may be coordinating a regular airfreight shipment, while the next you are arranging an urgent shipment that needs to reach a vessel as quickly as possible. You will be given plenty of responsibility and the freedom to work independently, all within an international environment where there are many opportunities to further develop your knowledge and skills. This is what you will do
As an Operations Agent Airfreight, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing international airfreight shipments.
Communicating with customers to understand their shipping requirements.
Preparing quotations and ensuring they are accurate and commercially viable.
Planning and coordinating airfreight shipments from departure to final delivery.
Maintaining contact with customers, carriers, colleagues and international partners.
Checking orders and shipping documentation and ensuring all information is processed correctly.
Ensuring shipments are collected and delivered on time.
Processing shipment information and administration in CargoWise.
Ensuring shipments are invoiced correctly.
Working in accordance with customer agreements and AIT guidelines.
Ensuring compliance with applicable legal and customs regulations.

An important part of this role is taking ownership of your work. You do not simply wait for someone to tell you what needs to be done. You identify what is required, take initiative and, where possible, suggest solutions or improvements.
For this position, we are looking for someone with experience in airfreight who enjoys working independently and taking responsibility.

You recognise yourself in the following

You have at least 2 years of experience in airfreight, preferably in an Operations Agent or similar role.
You have a solid understanding of airfreight processes and know how to manage a shipment from A to Z.
You are comfortable working independently and making decisions within your area of responsibility.
You are able to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple shipments at the same time.
You work accurately and have strong attention to detail.
You are a problem solver with a solution-oriented mindset.
You take ownership of your work and responsibilities.
You are proactive and comfortable suggesting ideas and improvements.
You have good written and spoken communication skills in both Dutch and English.
You are comfortable working with Windows and Microsoft Office. Experience with CargoWise is an advantage, but not a requirement.

AIT Worldwide Logistics is an international logistics organisation headquartered in Chicago. With locations around the world, AIT ensures that goods are transported safely and efficiently from origin to destination.
You will work in an international environment and have daily contact with customers, colleagues and logistics partners from different countries.
Within the High-Tech division, you will join a team of approximately 30 colleagues, divided into smaller teams of around 5 to 7 people. The working environment is informal, collaborative and personal. People work hard, but there is also plenty of room for social interaction, including coffee breaks together and team potlucks.
