We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team on a Tailings Thickener Conversion Project at the Khoemacau Copper Mine. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering expertise throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring the successful execution of the thickener conversion while maintaining the highest safety, quality, and performance standards. The role is based in Botswana.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all mechanical engineering activities associated with the tailings thickener conversion project.

• Review and approve mechanical designs, drawings, specifications, and calculations.

• Provide engineering support during construction, installation, commissioning, and project handover.

• Ensure project activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality requirements.

• Manage contractors and coordinate activities between engineering disciplines.

• Conduct site inspections, equipment assessments, and quality audits.

• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement practical engineering solutions.

• Support procurement activities, supplier evaluations, and technical bid assessments.

• Prepare technical reports, progress reports, risk assessments, and project documentation.

Qualifications And Skills Requirements

• BSc / BEng Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

• ECSA Professional Registration (Pr Eng) preferred.

• Minimum 5 years' experience in the mining and mineral processing industry.

• Demonstrated experience on tailings thickener projects, slurry handling systems, process plant modifications, pumps, piping systems, and related equipment.

• Proven experience in project execution, construction supervision, and commissioning.

• Strong understanding of mining plant operations and maintenance practices.

• Experience working on brownfield mining projects will be advantageous.

• Proficient in engineering software and Microsoft Office applications
