For our client, a leading engineering consultancy operating in the oil & gas and energy sectors in the Rotterdam / Dordrecht region, we are looking for an experienced Telecommunications Engineer.
Our client is involved in complex and large-scale offshore energy projects, including offshore wind farms, offshore substations, and high-voltage transmission infrastructure. As part of a multidisciplinary EPC project organization, you will play a key role in the design and implementation of critical telecommunications and network systems that support the energy transition.
Due to the company's matrix organization structure, you will work closely with specialists from various disciplines, including Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, SCADA, Automation, and Cyber Security. Responsibilities
- Design and specify telecommunications and network infrastructures for offshore wind projects.
- Engineer fiber optic networks, LAN/WAN networks, and redundant communication systems.
- Design communication links between wind turbines, offshore substations, and onshore control centers.
- Configure and integrate routers, switches, firewalls, and telecommunications equipment.
- Develop telecommunications architectures, network diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Support SCADA, Operational Technology (OT), and cybersecurity integrations.
- Review and evaluate vendor designs, documentation, and technical proposals.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), commissioning, and testing activities.
- Ensure the availability, redundancy, reliability, and cybersecurity of critical communication systems.
- Collaborate closely with disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, SCADA, Automation, and Cybersecurity.
Education & Professional Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (BSc or MSc) in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working within an engineering consultancy, EPC contractor, or engineering organization.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Telecommunications Engineer position.
- Experienced in greenfield Telecommunication conceptual, basis en detailed engineering
- Experienced in greenfield OT network conceptual, basis en detailed engineering
- Knowledge of transmission systems like SDH, OTN
- Experienced with offshore platform telecommunication systems
- Experienced with HV substations design
- Experienced in preparing spec, TBE and attending FAT for telecommunication systems
- Extensive knowledge of CCTV, PAGA, UHF/VHF, TETRA, LAN, WiFi, DACS, METEO systems, VSAT, LOS
- Experienced in preparing Telecommunication detailed design deliverables like:
- cablelist
- telecom layouts
- termination diagrams
- installation typical hookups
- mounting typicals
- Proficient in preparing engineering deliverables like:
- Network architecture diagrams / networkcable infrastructure
- telecom block diagrams
- Familiar with E3D
- Proficient in Smart Plant instrumentation
