Material Handler

Responsible for the safe movement of Customer product. Duties include movement of product within unprocessedstorage area, transfer of product to processing area, loading and unloading processed product, places and retrievesmonitoring devices on product, pre-shipping preparation and staging product in processed area. Reviews productand process documents and instructions, i.e., Customer provided special instructions or work instructions, andensures accurate processing. May perform the duties of Material Handler I, Warehouse Material Handler,Warehouse Assistant and / or Operator with initiation and/or completion of Operator training program. May trainother Material Handlers in the essential functions of the job. Depending on the modality in which this role operates(i.e. Gamma), this is a highly physical role – requiring strength and endurance.
1.Transfers product from unprocessed storage area to processing area, loads, and unloads processed product,conducts pre-shipping preparation and stages product in processed area. Reviews product / processdocuments and customer provided special instructions to ensure accurate processing.2. Maximizes processing and minimizes downtime by monitoring equipment used for product movement andtransfer; conducts and performs minor repairs, referring major malfunctions and / or unsafe conditions tomanagement or Maintenance Department; maintains a clean orderly work area, performs Material Handling,production functions as needed; processes product according to specifications if qualified by training andcertification.3. May assist in maintaining product inventory by receiving, identifying, labelling (if appropriate), and storingproduct within the Shipping and Receiving area in accordance with established procedure and any applicableCustomer provided special instructions.4. Contributes to accuracy of processing and product accountability by maintaining product documentation;implements appropriate corrective action as needed; places, retrieves and analyses product monitoringdevices per processing specifications.5. Contributes to safe product processing by researching and responding to any alarm conditions in anappropriate manner; reports events and activities outside normal parameters to Supervisor and/or TeamLeader or Operator and may assist in resolving issues acting within operational and safety guidelines;conducts area housekeeping on a daily basis.6. Participates in Operator training to further develop skills.7.Contributes to a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles andother directives; supports the directives and decisions of higher-level management and performs other dutiesas assigned.
High School Diploma or GED

4 years warehousing experience in an FDA, ISO, GMP environment or passing scoreon Operator test

• Subject to passing Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) requiredbackground check.2. Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate.3. Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.4. Requires ability to navigate through defined computer screens.5. Above average organizing and analysing skill and Level 2 math skill (fourbasic arithmetic functions in all units of measurement, decimals ratios,rates, percentages) to determine organizational, Customer and regulatoryproblems and formulate corrective action plans; attention to detail.6. Requires effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through priorexperience.7. Able to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.8. Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.9. Ability to operate a forklift

Pay range for this opportunity is $19.50 - $22.00 per hour. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
