MIG Welder 1st Shift

We're looking for an experienced to join our growing manufacturing team. In this role, you'll fabricate and weld a variety of sheet metal and structural steel products, including conveyors, tanks, frames, guards, chutes, covers, and more.
If you take pride in your craftsmanship, can read blueprints, and enjoy working on custom metal fabrication projects, we'd love to hear from you.
Perform MIG welding on carbon steel and stainless steel (14-gauge through 1/4")
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and layouts
Fit, fabricate, and assemble metal products to specifications
Use grinders, sanders, and hand tools to finish welded products
Inspect completed parts for quality and accuracy
Mark and identify finished components correctly
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials and finished products
Maintain a safe and organized work area

✅ MIG welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
✅ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
✅ Experience measuring and working accurately with tape measures
✅ Strong fitting, grinding, and metal finishing skills
✅ Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools
✅ Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus

Our fabrication facility combines modern manufacturing with historic character. The building is well-lit, features large windows, and provides a team-oriented atmosphere. Seasonal temperature changes are managed with fans and open-air ventilation during warmer months.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, IL.
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
