At Bureau Bouwkunde, we are looking for a technical designer who combines architectural knowledge and technical insight with a feel for architecture, constructability, and maintainability. Someone who can work independently, takes responsibility, and enjoys applying their knowledge to diverse projects.
We are an architectural consultancy and design firm in the center of Rotterdam. We work on diverse and beautiful projects for architectural firms, contractors, developers, and building owners. What will you be doing? In a dynamic team, you will collaborate with your colleagues on ambitious projects, from Preliminary Design (VO) to Construction-Ready Design (UO). You are at the heart of the organization and support the team with your dedication and technical knowledge. You translate design principles into technically feasible and executable solutions. In doing so, you look beyond the drawings: you understand the interplay between materials, structures, detailing, regulations, and execution. You identify bottlenecks, think in terms of solutions, and can effectively substantiate your architectural choices. You liaise directly with architects, contractors, and other involved parties. You contribute substantively, ask critical questions, and help find solutions that do justice to both the design and the technical and practical possibilities. Depending on the project and your experience, you may also fulfill a coordinating role in the technical elaboration. You maintain an overview and align with the involved disciplines. With sufficient experience, you can also take on overall project management.
We appreciate a broad interest in construction. It is beneficial if you can contribute ideas beyond technical design, for example when preparing the environmental permit application, drafting a Health and Safety plan, or conducting a technical site visit.
First and foremost, we are looking for a structural engineer who knows their trade. Someone who not only knows to draw something, but above all understands a structural solution does or does not work. In this role, you are at the heart of the organization and contribute to our projects with your technical knowledge. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who feels at home in a dynamic environment and for whom the technical detailing of buildings is a passion.
A completed architectural education, preferably at HBO (higher professional education) or university level. This position can also be very well filled by a structural architect.
Extensive experience with structural design, elaboration, and detailing
Solid knowledge of building materials, structures, construction methods, and connection details
Knowledge of the Buildings and Living Environment Decree (Bbl) and other relevant building regulations
Experience with Revit (BIM) and knowledge of the BIM Basis ILS
The ability to independently analyze technical issues and substantiate solutions
Good communication skills and the ability to consult with clients, architects, and contractors at a substantive level.
