For our client, a leading engineering consultancy operating in the oil & gas and energy sectors in the Rotterdam / Dordrecht region, we are looking for an experienced SCADA Engineer.
Due to the company's matrix organization structure, you will work closely with various multidisciplinary departments and have access to the expertise available across large EPC offshore projects. The team offers an open and collaborative working environment with a strong focus on getting things done. The work environment is professional, dynamic, and fast-paced, where teamwork and results are key.
As a SCADA Engineer, you will be part of multidisciplinary project teams consisting of 5 to 10 professionals. You will coordinate technical matters with the Project Manager and report to the Discipline Manager on functional and organizational topics. You will join the Instrumentation Engineering department, consisting of approximately 30 colleagues.
The working atmosphere is both international and results-oriented. By combining expertise from around the world with the pragmatic Rotterdam mentality of taking initiative and delivering results, the team successfully delivers innovative offshore energy projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement detailed SCADA systems for large-scale offshore wind energy projects.
- Develop and configure complete network and communication infrastructures to ensure safe, reliable, and future-proof installations.
- Incorporate redundancy, system optimization, and data processing requirements into all engineering solutions.
- Translate technical requirements into practical and implementable designs.
- Collaborate closely with specialists in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Telecommunications, and Cyber Security.
- Support all project phases, from detailed engineering through testing, commissioning, and handover.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Several years of experience as a SCADA Engineer, Automation Engineer, or Systems Engineer within the energy, infrastructure, utility, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience with SCADA systems, industrial networks, and communication technologies.
- Experience with communication protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, Modbus TCP/IP, OPC UA, and/or DNP3.
- Strong understanding of network architectures, switches, routers, firewalls, and redundancy concepts.
- Experience designing and configuring Operational Technology (OT) networks and communication infrastructures.
- Affinity with industrial cybersecurity; knowledge of IEC 62443 is considered an advantage.
- Knowledge of data processing, monitoring systems, remote control solutions, and energy system integration.
- Experience within the energy, offshore wind, high-voltage, utility, or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with systems engineering methodologies, technical specifications, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Excellent command of both English and Dutch.
